PDS has risen to the challenge over many years of supplying a vast range of premium quality printed items for its high-end client in the insurance market.
About the client
Our client is a leading global insurer and reinsurer, providing insurance in the property and casualty, marine and aviation sectors, as well as reinsurance. It has operations in the Lloyd’s, UK, Continental European and Bermudian markets. The company protects business continuity for organisations facing the most complex and demanding risks including natural catastrophes.
Its record extends over 300 years and it employs more than 2,400 people in 26 locations across the world. It has grown in scale rapidly over recent years and now has headquarters in a prestigious landmark building overlooking the Thames in central London.
PDS has worked for many years to service the needs of its client in this fast-paced industry. Its original headquarters in Essex were so restricted, it could not hold all the print items it needed in stock. It required a supplier that could store thousands of variations of its insurance leaflets and key facts documents and deliver them regularly on a frequent basis.
Later, as the business grew, and lines proliferated, PDS was required to manage an increasing range of stock items and ensure that these reached brokers all over the UK. With hundreds of lines being designed, printed and stored across multiple locations, our client became concerned about issues of consistency and quality affecting its brand. It also needed a way of keeping track of stock to reduce wastage.
Our client was looking for a service that was highly responsive, based on reliable account management that understood its brand and requirements, and was able to comprehend the complex terminology widely-used in the sector.
Some of its items had a cash value, including insurance cover notes, and these required secure transportation and delivery by a trusted courier.
PDS carried out a brand audit of all its client’s printed materials and recommended a rationalisation exercise that would reduce the number of suppliers involved and establish a robust stock control process. Every item is logged, and quantities are monitored by PDS so that re-prints are only ordered when necessary.
At the start of the relationship, PDS delivered 40 or 50 boxes of printed material including stationery and brochures to our client’s offices every week on a Wednesday at 5.30am, to enable the team to start the business day with minimal interruption.
PDS now produces around 50,000 items from 150 stock lines for its client each year. It oversees standards in the quality and consistency of the print, including colour accuracy, and high-end treatments including matt laminate finishing, spot UV and specific spot colours.
PDS manages the production, storage and distribution of all our client’s print materials ensuring these are delivered around the UK, keeping brokers supplied with the collateral they need.
We have enjoyed a long and productive relationship with our client because it has benefited from a fast, reliable service that delivers consistently high quality and helps it keep on top of its business-critical materials. Valuable time is saved by using a service that encompasses print and the storage of high volumes of stock, as well as logistics and fulfilment.
Our client can rest assured that its teams will always be able to access the materials they need as soon as they are required, and that its brand will be represented professionally and consistently.
In addition, our client has taken advantage of the PDS design studio which has created websites for two of its subsidiary brands.
